Course Information

Flatwater Supervisor/Guide/Instructor Course Cost:Non-member $295, members $236 (plus $170 PA registration fee if seeking assessment for Flatwater Supervisor/Guide/Instructor if successful)

Saturday - Sunday, April 10-11 9am – 4 pm Paddle Australia accredited course for teaching skills and leading trips on flat water. Assessment options for: Flatwater Supervisor,  Guide or Instructor available. (Please note course only runs with a minimum of 4 participants)

Assessment for this course (for either FW Guide or Instructor, or Supervisor, dependent upon participants previous experience and meeting the PAQS criteria) will occur both informally and formally over the two days. Participants need to bring:

  • Kayak or canoe or SOT, paddle, PFD, spraydec 
  • Warm paddling clothing – 2 sets per day of next-to-body clothing is recommended so you don’t have to put on wet gear for a second paddling session
  • Lunch, drinks and snacks
  • Personal paddling log, other relevant qualifications - see below for more details about your Paddle Log
  • Any currently used risk management or lesson plans if available. These are not required at the time of the course, but if you are using some, bring them along for review. This forms part of the online component.
  • Paper and pen

Participants will also need to complete the online component and a log book using the Paddle Log app. to download the app visit: rnhttps://paddle.org.au/education-safety/paddle-log/

All paperwork needs to be forwarded to Paddle Tasmania within 3 months of completing the course.

Cost: $295 non-members  $236 members

Payment: Once the minimum of 4 registrations is received you will be emailed with payment details. All payments will need to be made prior to the commencement of the course. If the minimum number is not reached by registration close date the course will be cancelled.

Please ensure you have been in contact with Paddle Tasmania prior to registering for this Course to ensure you have the appropriate skills and information to take part.
There will be a $170.00 fee to register your qualification with Paddle Australia for 3 years. You will only be invoiced for your PA registration once all requirements for the qualification have been completed and submitted to Paddle Australia.
