Whitewater Guide/Instructor Training Course Cost: Non-member $550; member $412 ($0 for sponsored participants) Friday - Sunday, October 27 - 29 2023 at Browns River and Broken Bridge Derwent River Paddle Australia training course for teaching skills and leading trips on moving water up to, and including, Grade 2 for experienced paddlers. This training course has been combined with an assessment day within a weekend. This course is for experienced paddlers looking at demonstrating correct stroke technique in an instructing situation on moving water, breaking down and teaching stroke technique, whitewater rescue techniques and the requirements for Whitewater Guide/Instructor Assessment. Participants will be assessed against the Paddle Australia whitewater kayak instructor guidelines which can be downloaded from the Paddle Australia website. Saturday 28th October 2023 - 9am - 3pm at Broken Bridge Derwent River training day Sunday 29th October 2023 - 9am - 3pm at Broken Bridge Assessment Day. A minimum of 4 additional paddlers are required on the Sunday so that participants can teach skills and be assessed in their teaching. It is the responsibility of participants to organise these extra paddlers for the Sunday. All paperwork needs to be forwarded to Paddle Tasmania within 3 months of completing the course.
