Course Information

Foundation coach: (F2 – T1) Foundation coach works with paddlers who wish to gain an introduction to discipline specific skills. The Foundation coach is for coaches training paddlers for state level competitions.

Canoe Polo Introduction to Coaching & Foundation Coaching Course

Date: Saturday 23 – Sunday 24 September 2023 Venue: Stringybark Dam, Launceston TAS.


Paddle TAS are proud to facilitate a Canoe Polo Intro to coaching and Foundation Coaching Course. The course is comprised of both online and face to face components. The face-to-face components will be held in Launceston surrounds (location to be confirmed) and Stringybark Dam, near Launceston, on the weekend of September 23 – 24 2023.


Pathway:

Firstly, participants are required to complete the introduction to coaching course (canoe polo). The course cost has been integrated into the foundation costs for Paddle TAS members plus a $60 coach registration fee valid for 3 years and is fully online. This course is only for those registering for the foundation course. The course link can be found at:

Once completed, participants progress to the Foundation coaching Course (Canoe Polo) which is a blended online and face-to-face course.

 

The course cost is $140 for Paddle TAS members. The link for the course can be found here:

Participants will be expected to attend 2 Online Zoom sessions on dates to be confirmed, prior to their face-to-face component.

The face-to-face component will be held in Launceston on the weekend of Saturday 23 – Sunday 24 September 2023. The weekend will include a day of theory on the Saturday and a practical day with on-water coaching training and assessment with local polo players.


Once complete, participants will need to demonstrate coaching ability and produce a log of 10 hours/ 10 sessions of coaching supervised by a qualified coach at their club. Participants will be assessed in their clubs and then signed off by Brigit Doyle and Paddle TAS. 


It is recommended that participants create a Paddlelog to keep track of all of their paddling and coaching sessions.

Once all course work and assessment are complete, participants will need to obtain a Working With Children Check (if over 18 years of age) and are encouraged to obtain a First Aid Certificate.

Course Cost $ 140.00 for Paddle TAS members only.
Please ensure you have been in contact with Paddle Tasmania prior to registering for this Course to ensure you have the appropriate skills and information to take part.
There will be a $60.00 fee to register your qualification with Paddle Australia for 3 years. You will only be invoiced for your PA registration once all requirements for the qualification have been completed and submitted to Paddle Australia.
