Paddle WA Basic Skills Course #2 Ascot Kayak Club, Fauntleroy Ave Saturday 15th May 2021 9.00am - 12.30pm $120 (adults) or $80 (under 18, discount applied in checkout) The Basic Skills Award is an introduction to paddling award that teaches participants the essential skills required whilst out paddling. The content covered includes - Knowledge of equipment
- Paddling strokes (forward, reverse, sweep, emergency stop)
- Correct posture and technique
- Launching and landing craft
- Rafting up
- Swimming in paddling attire
- Assisting deep water rescues
If you own a kayak or sit-on-top craft, this is the perfect way to learn how to safely and correctly go paddling! There is a minimum age of 12 for this course and no previous experience is required. Participants will receive a Basic Skills certificate following successful completion of the course. NB: all instructors teaching the Basic Skills course hold a current and registered PAQS qualification. Talk to your instructor if you're interested in gaining a PAQS qualification. |
